Numerical investigation of the segregation of turbulent emulsions

چکیده
We study the segregation of emulsions in decaying turbulence using direct numerical simulations combination with volume fluid method. To this end, we generate forced homogeneous isotropic and then turn forcing off activate gravitational acceleration. This allows us to process under gravity. consider non-iso-density emulsions, where dispersed phase is lighter one. The driven by both minimization potential energy achieved sinking heavier as well surface coalescence. these two processes their impacts on progress detail, different buoyancy forces tension coefficients our investigation, resulting five configurations. coefficient also alters droplet size distribution emulsion. Using three-dimensional simulation results monitored data, analyze driving mechanisms impact detail. propose a dimensionless number that reflects release dominating segregation. Moreover, evaluate time required for rise correlations varied parameters: acceleration coefficient.
